#1. Anna ? that
فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ
And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord.(2.26)
#2. lākinna ? but
وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَا اقْتَتَلُوا وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يُرِيدُ
And if Allah had willed, they would not have fought each other, but Allah does what He intends.(2.253)
#3. inna ? inna
إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ
Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.(2.115)
#4. laʿalla ? so that, Perhaps
ثُمَّ عَفَوْنَا عَنْكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
Then We forgave you after that so perhaps you would be grateful.(2.52)
#5. ka-anna ? as if
نَبَذَ فَرِيقٌ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَرَاءَ ظُهُورِهِمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
a party of those who had been given the Scripture threw the Scripture of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know [what it contained].(2.101)
#6. layta ? wish
وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ تُرَابًا
and the disbeliever will say, “Oh, I wish that I were dust!” (78.4)
